Scholarship World Series NIT
What is the Schutt® NSA Scholarship World Series NIT? Schutt Sports®
will sponsor scholarships to
be presented at these special Girls Fast Pitch World Series NIT Tournaments.
These are World Series qualifying tournaments in which one college
scholarship will be given in Girls
Fast Pitch in
Each Age Group.
The tournaments will be set up by the Zone Vice President.
What age divisions are eligible?
The Scholarship Tournaments will be offered in the following divisions: 10u -
12u - 14u - 16u
Who can participate in this tournament?
Any team registered with NSA for the current season may participate.
What if the player does NOT play softball in college?
It does NOT matter if the player participates in college level softball. The
scholarship is still theirs to use.
What is the amount of scholarship? 10u - $500 12u -
$500 14u - $500 16u - $500
Is there a stipulation on the type of college the scholarship will be
applied?
The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient, to be used at
their School
of CHOICE, after proof
of enrollment is received. Redeemable
at such time recipient enters an accredited two-year junior college
or four year college or university.
Can a player receive more than one scholarship?
Yes, a player could possibly win more than one scholarship over multiple years
of play.
What benefit does my team have for participating? The tournament
will be run with a NSA World
Series NIT format. The first place team will receive a Direct Berth to the
NSA World Series in their age
and classification, and can bypass the State Tournament if
they wish.
Second through Fourth Place teams receive a World Series berth, but MUST
participate in the State
Tournament to validate their berth.
Gives players on your team participating in the tournament a chance to receive a
college scholarship.
How is the recipient of the scholarship decided?
NSA wants to give ALL girls that enjoy the
game of softball, a chance to benefit from participating in the
program.
The form of a blind draw, from ALL teams in the tournament, will decide
the recipient of each scholarship.
All players PARTICIPATING in the tournament will be included in the
draw.
