2009 State Tournament Locations:

Coaches,
Please note that there will be NO Thursday games for the NSA State Tournament this year.
Games will be played June 26-27-28th. We have secured additional fields in the Lansing Area if we need them.

16u A & B and the 18u A & B will both be located at Cooperstown in Jackson.

10u & 12u B will be in East Lansing
12u A & 14u A will be at Alliance Lake in Potterville
14u B will be at Eaton Rapids

2009 Fast Pitch Rule Changes:
Metal Cleats will be allowed in the 16u & 18u Division for NSA with an Exception:
Rule 3 Equipment    Page 106 Section 4
Shoes with metal cleats are optional in the 16U and the 18U age divisions.
*Exception: When a ball park has specific rules that prohibit the use of metal
cleats, the official park rules will take preference and be observed.

Rule 4 Players & Subs Page 110 Section 2- (a-4)
Delete: “and the use of the (DH) will be terminated for the remainder of the game
and the original (DH) loses re-entry privilege”.
Add: If the substitute is a pinch runner or pinch hitter other than the player being
hit for, she must be a player who has not yet been in the game, “and that
substitute then becomes the (DH). By substituting this way, the original (DH)
retains her re-entry privilege”.

Coaches,
The 2009 Michigan NSA State Tournament date will be June 26-27-28th.   GAMES WILL BEGIN ON FRIDAY.
We have had a few calls on why NSA has changed the weekend we hold our State tournament however we actually have not changed it.
Although the dates are different, the NSA State Championships have always been the week after Father's Day as it still will be this year.

ASA has historically been the 4th of July weekend, they changed their date.

So you can see the pattern, these are the dates for the next 7 years:
2009: June 25-28th
2010: June 24-27th
2011: June 23-26th
2012: June 21-24th
2013: June 20-23rd
2014: June 19-22nd
2015: June 25-28th

REMINDERS:
Parents, Players  and Coaches -
 I have received many questions regarding "Borrowing" of a player for a weekend.
            If you have ANY questions, please contact me.
  Violations are severe....  Suspension of both the Coach AND PLAYER!
  
 ROSTER ISSUES:
    1. Players cannot be BORROWED for a weekend tournament and return to their original NSA team!
                  EVEN IF THE TEAMS ARE IN THE SAME ORGANIZATION! 
    2.  Players cannot participate without being listed on the Official NSA Online Roster, printed out with signatures.
    3.  Players cannot be listed on TWO NSA rosters without a release form in my office & APPROVED - Stipulations apply.
    4.  Players participating that are not on the NSA official ONLINE roster are illegal/ineligible.
    5.  Players playing under an assumed name or "borrowing a jersey" for a weekend is illegal/ineligible.

                                 Rosters DO NOT need to be online before you enter tournaments.
                                 We Recommend that you submit your team registration information & fee EARLY.

 RETURNING Services Offered:  Michigan NSA Teams can PAY FOR Registration fee ONLINE w/charge.
                                                  Michigan NSA Teams can PAY FOR Tournament Entry Fees ONLINE w/charge.
                                                  Mailed Payments are accepted as always.

It is the coach’s responsibility to know the rules.  Ignorance of the rules DOES NOT negate the penalties.

NOTE: TEAMS CAN BE RECLASSIFIED ANYTIME DURING THE SEASON DUE TO THE OVERALL STRENGTH OF THE TEAM!
          Please make sure to select the proper classification at the beginning of the year!

                                 All Teams must be registered online and have their ROSTER Online PRIOR TO Playing in their First Tournament.

Register your team, enter your roster, and enter Tournaments ONLINE.
Register your team online.  Once your team information is submitted, you will receive instructions on where to MAIL your fee.  
OPTION - You may also choose to pay for your registration fee by charge.
Once the registration fee is received, your Director will "Approve" your registration. You will then receive your registration number via e-mail. 
You can then use your registration number to purchase team insurance, enter your roster online, and enter Tournaments online.

Note:  The email you receive with your registration number is your receipt and registration card for the year.

    NOTICE - NSA Approved Equipment List:
BATS:   Only NSA approved bats will be allowed.  Check the National Website for a complete 
and up to date listing of approved equipment.   www.playnsa.com  click on:  Approved Equipment
             Please check bats by Manufacturer - Model NUMBER and NAME, if a bat is not posted on the approved list, it will NOT be allowed.
** Note: It is the coaches/players responsibility to check their bat(s) to the list prior to bringing them into play.
            You may contact the manufacturer to inquire on the status of an unlisted bat.

Tournament Entry - Teams must Enter Tournaments through the ONLINE SYSTEM
                             See below if you are comfortable with the system, or Click here for COMPLETE DIRECTIONS .

                        Directions on how to enter tournaments online:

• Go to: www.playnsa.com
• Click on: TEAM LOGIN (off to left in gray area of screen)
• Click on: TEAM LOGIN (in the white screen in the middle of the page)
• Enter Team Registration Number & Password.
• Click on: Go to TOURNAMENT List  and Select: FUTURE Tournaments
• Search for tournaments to Enter – THEN CLICK ON: DETAILS (Magnifying Glass)
  
   Note:  PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE "COMMENT AREA" OF EACH TOURNAMENT – VITAL INFORMATION REGARDING EACH TOURNAMENT WILL BE POSTED THERE.   Example: PAYMENT IS REQUIRED BEFORE TEAM IS ACCEPTED INTO TOURNAMENT.

• TO ENTER THE TOURNAMENT, scroll down to the bottom of the DETAIL SCREEN, enter your registration number & password. Click on: SIGN UP   The Tournament Director will receive an email that you are requesting entry. Please check the comment section to verify if pre-payment is required. It is possible your team will NOT be accepted until payment is received.
• Michigan teams can then MAIL in payment to address shown when entering, or may return to the Michigan Schedule to pay entry fees by charge card.
  Note:  Entering tournaments online will NOT show the Early Entry Discount amounts, please remember if you PAY in Full by the Early Discount Dates to submit the reduced fee if mailing entry.  Charge payments online allow for selection of the Early Entry Discounts.
